Starlink is now able to supply satellite broadband in Sri Lanka.
Elon Musk’s Starlink has been granted a license in Sri Lanka.
The billionaire businessman’s SpaceX has been approved to supply satellite broadband services in the South Asian country, at a fee, by The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).
It comes after the Sri Lanka Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill was passed last month.
Starlink had been given preliminary approval in June.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Musk met at the 10th World Water Forum High-Level Meeting in Indonesia on May 19 to discuss the matter.
SpaceX first started launching Starlink satellites in 2019.
