The 59-year-old actress wears a pair of denims every day because they are practical for her life in the countryside, and she is “gradually” working her way through the garments she has in storage.
Asked if she had to wear one thing for the rest of her life, she told the Sunday Times Style magazine: “Jeans. I wear them every day. I wish I were the sort of girl who wore pretty skirts and dresses, but I have dogs and live in the country, so I’m always covered in mud…
“I have hundreds of pairs in boxes in the attic. I’m gradually working my way through all the old skinnies and low-rise and using them up for gardening.”
And the ‘Bedazzled’ actress also has “masses” of “beautiful” pairs of shoes that she is unable to wear because of problems with her ankle and toe.
She said: “I have torn ligaments in my ankle and hallux rigidus in one of my big toe joints, so I have to be very careful about high heels.
“I shouldn’t really wear any at all but I sneak in a few.
“I have masses of beautiful, neglected shoes that I’ll never wear again but can’t bear to part with.”
When it comes to her nighttime attire, Elizabeth wears nothing but a “soft bra”.
Asked what she wears in bed, she said: “I have a mysteriously perfect duvet that is warm in winter and cool in summer, so I don’t wear anything except for a soft bra, which is essential if you’re well endowed.”
The ‘Austin Powers’ star doesn’t take long to get ready in the mornings but admitted she gives herself a lot of time when she’s preparing for a “big occasion”.
She said: “If it’s a big occasion I allow two hours. On normal days, five minutes tops.”
