Dell orders global sales team employees back to the office five days a week

Dell Technologies has asked global sales team employees to return to the office five days per week to create a collaborative environment and “grow skills”.

Dell Technologies has requested that global sales team employees return to the office five days a week.

The change will come into effect from Monday (30.09.24) and has been made to foster a collaborative environment and “grow skills”.

A memo issued by the company, which has been seen by Reuters, states: “Working remotely should be the exception rather than the routine.”

Representatives from the sales team are expected to spend five days per week in the office or with customers and partners having previously only been required to work in the office just three times a week.

Dell added: “Remote sales team members who can’t go into a Dell office should continue to work remotely.”

The company has confirmed that it will provide further information regarding remote workers in the coming weeks.

Since the coronavirus pandemic started in 2020, a number of tech companies have allowed employees to work from home but Dell is the latest company to demand a return to the office.

Earlier this week, Amazon mandated a return to office working for its employees in order for the firm to “deliver the absolute best” for consumers.

CEO Andy Jassy said in a note to staff: “To address the second issue of being better set up to invent, collaborate, and be connected enough to each other and our culture to deliver the absolute best for customers and the business, we’ve decided that we’re going to return to being in the office the way we were before the onset of COVID. When we look back over the last five years, we continue to believe that the advantages of being together in the office are significant.”
