Eva Longoria glad to escape ‘dystopian’ United States for Mexico and Spain

Eva Longoria is glad to be out of the United States, and she feels “anxiety and sadness” for those stuck in the country.

Eva Longoria feels “privileged” to live in Spain and Mexico instead of the “dystopian” United States.

The 49-year-old star and her husband José Bastón – who have six-year-old son Santiago together – have split their time between the two after Eva grew disillusioned and disappointed with California.

She told Marie Claire magazine: “I’m privileged. I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky.

“They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

The ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress noted she spent her “whole adult life” in and around Los Angeles, but noticed things “changing” years ago.

She added: “The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge.

“Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s*** on California — it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”

Eva was bitterly disappointed to see Donald Trump beat Kamala Harris in the recent presidential election, but she “would like to think” the fight will continue.

Describing the US as “a scary place”, she claimed: “If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.”

She also hit out the “strained relationship” between the US and Mexico, particularly with some people in the States calling for the wall on the boarder despite enjoying much of its southern neighbour’s culture.

She said: “I feel like the strained relationship between us and Mexico needs to be repaired, and I think culture and food can easily celebrate the best things of a country.

“The people who were screaming, ‘Build that wall!’ are the same people that are going to Taco Tuesday.

“And I’m like, ‘No, no, no. You don’t get to margarita out and s*** on the culture that gave you the taco and gave you the margarita. You have to go, ‘This came from there. There must be good things.’ “
