‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ creative director Jonathan Dumont has teased protagonist Naoe will be “the fastest Assassin we ever made”.
‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ protagonist Naoe will be Ubisoft’s “fastest assassin [the studio has] ever made”.
The latest instalment in Ubisoft’s action-adventure franchise is set to hit consoles and PC in February 2025, and ‘Shadows’ creative director Jonathan Dumont has teased Naoe – one of the game’s lead characters alongside Yasuke – will have a speedy “shinobi” movement style that will do justice to the title’s ninja themes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dumont said: “Naoe’s the fastest Assassin we ever made.
“She runs super fast, she has a lot of gadgets to keep her stealth so that she doesn’t have to fight often. We wanted to satisfy that for players that come in for that ninja-Assassin game.”
The ‘Shadows’ creative directed teased Naoe could “‘Naruto’ run” – in reference to the ninja anime and manga series of the same name – in the game thanks to her impressive agility.
He said: “We do have a run on top of buildings that has a little bit of a wink-wink to it.”
Dumont detailed Naoe’s story, and said throughout ‘Shadow’s, “she will start a bit of a path of vengeance or fulfilling a promise that she made to her family”.
He continued: “As she discovers a world in need, she begins to really value the community values her father taught. Can she make a better world?”
