Keisha Buchanan ‘happy to be here’ after surviving car crash

Keisha Buchanan has revealed via social media that she survived a near-fatal accident in late 2023.

Keisha Buchanan is “happy to be here” after she was involved in a terrifying car accident in late 2023.

The 40-year-old pop star – who is best known as a member of the Sugababes – has taken to social media to reflect on the accident, revealing that she blacked out while behind the wheel before veering off the road and crashing the vehicle.

Keisha – who had remained tight-lipped about the accident until now – captioned an image of the crash on Instagram: “This time last year I blacked out at the wheel… Thank you Jesus for my life. Thankful for another year… will speak more on the cause behind the black out another time. Just happy to be here. [prayer emoji] (sic)”

Keisha was a founding member of the girl group alongside Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy.

But the pop star previously admitted that she had “a really hard time” in her early days of the band.

Speaking on the ‘Receipts’ podcast about the band’s line-up changes, she said: “From the age of 12 to maybe 16, that’s when the first shake-up came. 16 going on 17.

“It was a really hard time because I think we … Siobhan and I weren’t really close when we were younger, it was such a shake-up. It was kind of … it just wasn’t a nice atmosphere. So after she left, quite quickly, Heidi [Range] came in. We were told that there was an auditioning process happening so we auditioned a friend and then Heidi came along.

“Our friend was a year and a half younger than us and in the UK, you can’t work more than a certain amount of time. And we were just turning 17 so we could do more, collectively, management said it was better to have Heidi. It just made sense for her age, she was 18.”
