Olivia Colman not good at singing and dancing

Olivia Colman enjoyed her musical scenes in ‘Paddington in Peru’ but admitted singing and dancing doesn’t come naturally to her.

Olivia Colman isn’t “any good at” singing and dancing.

The 50-year-old actress had to show off her musical talents as a nun in ‘Paddington in Peru’ and while she enjoyed the scenes very much, she admitted the performing element didn’t come naturally to her.

She told Best magazine: “I did really enjoy it. It’s not something I would say I am any good at, but I had a lot of wonderfully talented people to help me.

“Also wearing a really long habit that covers your feet is a very handy way to hide all the steps you get wrong.

“But I did do all the dancing.

“It was dancing, singing, acting and playing the guitar all at the same time I had the most trouble with.

“I only had to do one song but it was very hard for me.”

And Olivia admitted she had to spend a lot of time preparing for the musical numbers.

Asked about her preparation, she said: “Most of it was the singing and dancing. That took a lot.

“The rest was really about the costume and make-up.

“When you dress as a nun, it’s hard not to find yourself acting like one.”

The award-winning actress – who has two sons, aged 19 and 17, and a nine-year-old daughter with husband Ed Sinclair – was thrilled to be cast in the movie because her kids are such fans.

She said: “They love it. My youngest was really excited when I told her – almost as excited as I was!

“But as a family, we’ve watched ‘Paddington’ again and again since our kids were very small.

“So it was huge to be asked to be a part of this and more than a little surreal. I couldn’t believe it was real at first.”
