Carice van Houten has revealed she and Guy Pearce parted ways a while ago.

Carice van Houten has confirmed her relationship with Guy Pearce ended “a couple of years” ago.

The ‘Game of Thrones’ star has broken her silence on her split from the former ‘Neighbours’ star after he recently gave an interview declaring that his ex-wife Kate Mestitz was the “greatest love of his life”.

Carice, 48, insists she and Guy, 57, still have a “wonderful partnership” and are focused on raising their eight-year-old son Monte.

Alongside a picture of the pair, she wrote on her Instagram Story: “I don’t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear.

“He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a ‘couple’ for years. (Sorry not to mention it earlier)

“I am, however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives — our beautiful son and his hamster. The end.”

Guy – who was married to Kate between 1997 and 2015 – insists he has “moved on” from his former spouse.

He told the Guardian newspaper at the weekend: “My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I’ve moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte.”

The movie star was “devastated” by his divorce and Guy initially felt that he was to blame for their breakup.

He said: “I felt like I messed up my marriage. I don’t feel that way anymore, but at the time I was devastated.”

Guy announced his split from Kate in 2015, explaining that the time had come for them “to part ways”.

The actor – who has known Kate since they were both children – said in a statement: “Kate and I will always love and support one another and be the best of friends. No one knows me like Kate does, and we’ll forever be appreciative of our mutual respect.

“We’ve both grown enormously through our relationship, but sadly, the time has come to part ways.”

Months later, he embarked on a romance with Carice, and they welcomed their son into the world in 2016.
