Halsey plays a dominatrix in the music video for her next single, ‘Safeword’.
Halsey is set to release the new song ‘Safeword’ on Thursday (27.02.25).
The 30-year-old alt-pop star dropped an eye-popping preview of the music promo for the upcoming rock tune, which sees her take on the role of a dominatrix.
Halsey rocks a leather-studded ensemble, including underpants and knee-high stiletto boots, and is seen putting her foot on the throat of a man wearing a BDSM mask.
With a wild look on her face, she sings: “You’re not the boss of me!”
‘Safeword’ will mark Halsey’s first release since October’s ‘The Great Impersonator’ LP.
Halsey feared her latest album would be the “last one” she made after suffering from health issues including Lupus and a rare lymphoproliferative disorder.
Previewing the album, she said: “I really thought this album would be the last one I ever made.”
The lead single for the LP was Halsey’s version of Britney Spears’ 2000 hit ‘Lucky’ and Halsey explained how the original was a “coping mechanism” while she was ill.
The singer spent a lot of time receiving treatment in hospital after being diagnosed with the conditions and revealed ‘Lucky’ became one of the songs she would hum to make herself feel better.
She told Paper magazine: “I have this weird coping mechanism where, if I’m not dealing with something internally, I’ll catch myself singing a song that relates to it. Often, the most random songs gets suck in my head …
“‘Lucky’ became one of those songs. I would lay there, attached to a pump, like ‘I’m so lucky, I’m a star.’ It was facetious … “
Meanwhile, Halsey is set to embark on the ‘Halsey: For My Last Trick’ North American jaunt, which kicks off on May 10 in Concord, California, and wraps on July 6 in Highland, California.
She will be joined by a host of special guests, including Evanescence, Alvvays, Hope Tala, flowerlove, and many more.
