The Duchess of Sussex is underestimated, says Netflix CEO

Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix, has heaped praise on Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is “underestimated in terms of her influence on culture”, according to the CEO of Netflix.

The 43-year-old royal has starred in the Netflix series ‘Harry and Meghan’ and ‘With Love, Meghan’, and Ted Sarandos believes the pubic are “fascinated” by the duchess.

The 60-year-old executive told Variety: “I think Meghan is underestimated in terms of her influence on culture.

“When we dropped the trailer for the ‘Harry and Meghan’ doc series, everything on-screen was dissected in the press for days. The shoes she was wearing sold out all over the world. The Hermes blanket that was on the chair behind her sold out everywhere in the world.

“People are fascinated with Meghan Markle. She and Harry are overly dismissed.”

The duchess played Rachel Zane on ‘Suits’, the legal drama series, for seven seasons, before she married Prince Harry in 2018.

And the former actress recently admitted to being thrilled that new fans are now discovering the hit TV show.

She told PEOPLE: “I’m not surprised that people are rediscovering ‘Suits’, because it was so well written and so well produced.”

The duchess has actually kept something from Rachel’s wardrobe to remind her of her time on the show.

The royal – who starred on the programme alongside Patrick J. Adams – shared: “I still have the pencil skirt from the first episode! That’s the one thing I kept.”

A new spin-off series, titled ‘Suits L.A.’, premiered in February, and Meghan has expressed her support for the project.

The duchess – who announced her retirement from acting in 2017, after getting engaged to Harry – said: “I love that it gets a new breath of fresh air.”
