The tech giant has become a staple of the technology, arlet since Bill Gates launched it in 1975 and the only other company on the market with a higher cap is Apple.
eMarketer analyst Jeremy Goldman said: “From a storytelling standpoint, they’ve been a boring company and a boring stock.

“It’s not a very sexy infrastructure, but it’s a very valuable one.
The company itself recently reflected on the milestone anniversary, where bosses promised that “reinvention” will play a big part in the future of the corporation.
In a blog post, Microsoft said: “Fifty years ago, Microsoft started with a bold idea: the belief that technology could change the world. Thanks to the largest partner ecosystem in the industry, numbering 500,000 and growing, that vision became a reality, and I know we are just getting started. From the early days of distributing Windows PCs and Office to now delivering AI transformation strategies that solve the most complex customer challenges, our ability to stay at the forefront of innovation as technology evolves is a testament to our culture of continuous reinvention.”
