The London School of Economics and Political Science has announced details of its partnership with Anthropic.
A university in London has announced a new partnership with a leading artificial intelligence safety and research company.
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) – which is widely regarded as one of the best universities in the UK – has joined forces with Anthropic to provide students with access to its ‘Claude’ AI technology.
The state-of-the-art AI assistant can help students by guiding their reasoning process, rather than just providing them with answers.
Professor Larry Kramer, the president and vice chancellor of LSE, said in a statement: “Since our founding, LSE has been at the forefront of understanding social change and seeking solutions to real world challenges. This new partnership is part of that mission. As social scientists, we are in a unique position to understand and shape how AI can positively transform education and society.
“Student scholars are also central to this, and I look forward to seeing how this partnership benefits our community, enables innovation in education and supports broader school ambitions to build world-class, AI-enhanced infrastructure and skills development at LSE.”
The university is piloting the initiative over the next 12 months. LSE explained that it’s determined to consider the potential “implications of AI in higher education, society, and the world”.
