Susan Sarandon says it ‘makes me cry’ as she recalls raising three children during Hollywood fame

Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon’s children are “grateful” for their upbringing even though it was “awkward” at times.

Susan Sarandon knows that her children are “grateful” for their Hollywood upbringing.

The 78-year-old actress – who has Eva, 40, with her former partner Franco Amurri as well as Jack, 35, and 32-year-old Miles with Tim Robbins – recalled “dragging her kids all over the place” at the height of her career and while some of it might have been “awkward” at the time, she knows that they appreciate it all now.

When asked what sort of legacy she wants to leave behind for her children, she told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “That makes me cry because I can’t think about leaving them but one of the things about being in this business and dragging your kids all over with you is that they’re very flexible, and they’re not afraid of other cultures.

“Their bubble has been very big and sometimes it was a little awkward because there was no picking up at school or whatever but at the end of the day, they look back at it now and they’re grateful for it.”

The ‘Thelma and Louise’ star was then asked about her middle child – who has made a name for himself with satirical TikTok videos about his nepo baby status – and recalled a time when the newspaper outlet who now employes him insulted him by claiming that he wouldn’t have been able to get a film made without his famous parents.

She said: “Oh, Jack. The nepo baby. He’s writing something now and I was like ‘Well, who am I gonna be? I can’t be myself…’ So I don’t know what’s gonna come of that.

“When you grow up and that’s your fear, I love that he leaned into it and made it funny. He’s had a few films and one of them was called ‘VHYes’, which was all shot on VHS. It got distribution and everything but the New York Times said it would never had been done had it not been for his parents.

“Obviously, they don’t much because I can’t get a movie up, and neither can Tim. With the nepo baby stuff, he just got a full New York Times column now and stuff online and all of this. So by leaning into it and making it funny, he’s now gone full circle. “I felt like writing to them and saying ‘By the way, did you know, a few years ago what your reviewer said that was so hostile personally? How great that you’ve redeemed him!’

“When you have an insecurity like that, to make fun of it, I think it’s so productive and I’m so proud of him.”
