Christopher McDonald hails ‘good actor’ Travis Kelce

Christopher McDonald has heaped praise on Travis Kelce, his Happy Gilmore 2 co-star.

Christopher McDonald thinks Travis Kelce is a “good actor”.

The 70-year-old film star appears alongside Travis, 35, in Happy Gilmore 2, and Christopher has admitted to being impressed by Travis’ acting skills.

Speaking to People, Christopher shared: “Travis Kelce has been out there and I just really liked him as a person. He is really funny. Way too handsome, by the way, but really a good actor actually.

“Surprisingly good.”

The original Happy Gilmore movie told the story of a failed ice hockey player who turned to golf in an effort to raise money for his family.

Christopher didn’t actually get to play golf against Travis, but he’s convinced the NFL star has “got game”.

The actor said: “He’s a good athlete. He’s a beast. I’m sure he kills the ball.”

Travis – who is dating pop star Taylor Swift – makes a cameo appearance in the much-anticipated new movie. But he recently rubbished suggestions that he could retire from the NFL, insisting he still has a lot to prove as a sportsman.

The Kansas City Chiefs star told reporters: “It wasn’t a very tough [decision] for me.

“I know I’m getting older, but at the same time I still feel like I got a lot that I can prove in this league. It really wasn’t that hard of a decision for me.”

Travis felt hurt after losing the Super Bowl earlier this year, but his passion for the sport remains as strong as ever.

He said: “I love football. I don’t think I really thought about it that much. My friends and family and the team and the guys and women in this building, I love coming into work every single day.”

Despite this, Travis took his time before deciding to commit himself to another season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

He said: “You want to let the emotions die down [after the end of the season].

“That was the biggest thing — you don’t want to make decisions off initial emotions. But for the most part, once they died down, I still felt like I had that fire in my chest to be able to keep coming in and building and be better and chase another Super Bowl.”
