Halo’s future to be addressed in October

After the developer rebranded and announced a major shift away from its Slipspace Engine to Unreal Engine 5, Halo Studios has teased that major news for Halo’s future will be announced during the Halo World Championship in October.

Halo Studios has confirmed that major news on the franchise’s future will be officially revealed during the Halo World Championship in October.

In a recent Halo Waypoint blog, Halo Studios – formerly 343 Industries – said it will “continue the conversation” around upcoming Halo projects at the Halo World Championship (HaloWC) event, set for 24–26 October in Seattle.

Tahir ‘Tashi’ Hasandjekic, Halo Studios’ e-sports lead, posted: “We don’t usually comment on such matters, but this time we want to enter the chat and share a little more perspective for Halo fan.

“If you want the official scoop on what Halo Studios has been working on, you won’t want to miss this year’s Halo World Championship.”

This follows last year’s announcement of the Unreal Engine 5-powered Project Foundry and the studio’s rebrand.

Last October’s HaloWC debuted the A New Dawn teaser and revealed Halo Studios’ switch from its proprietary Slipspace Engine to Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 – marking a major strategic pivot for the developer and the franchise.

Since then, speculation has grown over multiple pending Halo projects, including possible remakes, spin-offs, multi-platform support, and a next-gen mainline entry ahead of the franchise’s 25th anniversary in 2026.

It is expected Halo Studios will unveil new gameplay details, reveal extra titles beyond the main sequel, and clarify its approach on platforms like PlayStation or Nintendo Switch.

With Halo Infinite still active, the event could define the franchise’s direction for years to come.

Tickets for HaloWC 2025 are already on sale, and livestream access will be available via Twitch and YouTube for global audiences.
