Caitlyn Jenner’s longtime friend and manager Sophia Hutchins has died aged 29 following a freak accident close to the reality TV star’s home in Malibu, California on Wednesday (02.07.25).
Caitlyn Jenner’s longtime friend and manager Sophia Hutchins has died in an ATV accident close to the reality TV star’s home.
The 29 year old is believed to have collided with a car while riding an all-terrain vehicle on a road close to Caitlyn’s property in Malibu, California on Wednesday (02.07.25) and TMZ.com reports the crash sent Sophia’s ATV plummeting into a ravine.
The website reports emergency services were called, but Sophia was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else is believed to have been injured in the accident.
It is not known whether Caitlyn was at home at the time of the accident and she has yet to publicly comment on the tragedy.
Sophia took over managing Caitlyn’s career in 2017 following the reality star’s divorce from Kris Jenner. She appeared in her reality show I am Cait and even lived with the star at her Malibu home.
She explained the career move in an interview with the New York Times in 2019, insisting she just wanted to protect her friend at a vulnerable time in her life. Sophia told the publication: “I saw nobody was managing her, and there were all these people taking massive advantage.
“And I was saying: ‘Caitlyn, if I don’t step in here and start managing you, you’re going to go broke’.”
She added of their relationship: “Caitlyn is a parent to me. I have said that a million times. It is a parental, familial relationship.”
The pair became so close, they were forced to deny rumours they were romantically involved.
Sophia previous addressed the speculation in a post on social media, writing: “Love the whole LGBT community but so tired of rumors that I am romantically with Caitlyn.
“I am only ever with men and only ever have been. Stop the rumors! It’s been years.”
Sophia is believed to have maintained a good relationship with Caitlyn’s ex-wife Kris and daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, while she also appeared in a campaign for SKIMS – the clothing brand run by Caitlyn’s stepdaughter Kim Kardashian.
Sophia’s final public appearance with Caitlyn is believed to have been at the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C. in April 2024.
