Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed that the iPhone 16 range is outperforming the iPhone 15 line-up in a big way, helping drive a sharp rise in iPhone revenue during the company’s latest earnings quarter.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed iPhone 16 sales are outperforming the iPhone 15.
Speaking on the Cupertino-based company’s recent Q3 2025 earnings call, Cook said sales of the iPhone 16 were up by “strong double digits” compared to the iPhone 15 at the same point last year.
He told investors: “We’re very happy to see that the iPhone 16 family is doing better than the iPhone 15 family was at this time last year.”
The surge in popularity helped push total iPhone revenue to $44.6 billion, a 13 per cent jump from $39.2 billion in the year-ago quarter.
Apple didn’t break down sales by model, but analysts suggest the more expensive Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 16 have been key drivers.
The lineup featured upgrades like Camera Control, longer battery life and the on-device AI model Apple Intelligence, which have been well received in key markets including the US, China and parts of Europe.
The strong performance helped offset a weaker quarter for other Apple hardware, including Mac and iPad, and contributed to overall quarterly revenue of $83.9 billion – up two per cent year over year.
Looking ahead, Cook told investors: “We remain very optimistic about the iPhone and are excited about what’s still to come in the smartphone category.”
The iPhone 16’s continued success is expected to play a major role in Apple’s financial performance heading into autumn, ahead of the anticipated launch of the iPhone 17 in September.
