President Donald Trump is due to announce that Apple will invest an additional $100 billion in US manufacturing, significantly expanding its domestic operations amid growing trade tensions and looming tariffs on tech imports.

According to Bloomberg, the White House will reveal details of a new manufacturing initiative that aims to bring more of Apple’s supply chain back to the U.S.
The programme reportedly includes plans to produce more critical components domestically, bolstering both economic and national security goals.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement: “President Trump’s America First economic agenda has secured trillions of dollars in investments that support American jobs and bolster American businesses.
“Today’s announcement with Apple is another win for our manufacturing industry.”
The move follows earlier warnings from Trump, who threatened to impose tariffs of at least 25 per cent on Apple products manufactured overseas, including its flagship product, the iPhone.
Most of Apple’s current production is centred in China and India, prompting CEO Tim Cook to lobby for tariff exemptions.
Apple has yet to comment publicly, but the latest investment brings its total U.S. commitment to $600 billion over the next four years.
That includes previously announced projects such as a new server manufacturing plant in Houston and a supplier academy in Michigan.
The announcement comes as Trump prepares to roll out broad tariffs on products containing semiconductor chips next week, and with country-specific tariffs set to take effect today (07.08.25).
Analysts say this move could help Apple avoid increased costs that would otherwise impact profit margins and consumer pricing.
A successful exemption could also give Apple a competitive edge over foreign rivals such as Samsung.
