Battlefield 6 has the ‘biggest Open Beta ever’ at over 500k concurrent Steam players, EA reveals

Electronic Arts has revealed that Battlefield 6 has had the “biggest Open Beta ever” in the franchise’s history, reaching over 500,00 concurrent players on Steam alone.

Electronic Arts has announced that Battlefield 6 has had the “biggest Open Beta ever” in the franchise’s history.

The upcoming shooter – developed by DICE – was able to attract 521,079 concurrent players on Steam alone, and the publisher has now celebrated Battlefield 6’s amazing success.

In a statement published on social media, EA said: “This is Battlefield’s biggest Open Beta ever.

“Peak time is approaching and queues will be expected. We’re working on entry times to the game, but appreciate your patience as you wait for your time to arrive.

“We want everyone to experience a smooth and fair Open Beta, including those currently within the game too. Thank you for your continued excitement for Battlefield 6’s Open Beta!”

It should be noted that the 500,000 concurrent players only reflect Steam activity, meaning total participation across PlayStation, Xbox, and EA App is significantly higher.

The beta, which includes large-scale multiplayer battles and showcases the new map Harbortown, has been praised by many players for returning to the series’ more tactical, squad-focused roots.

Senior producer Ryan McArthur said: “We have listened closely to community feedback over the past few years and have worked hard to deliver a Battlefield that feels true to its legacy while innovating in meaningful ways.

“Seeing this level of engagement is incredibly motivating for the entire team.”

Battlefield 6 is set to launch on 10 October 2025, featuring a single-player campaign, multiple multiplayer modes, and post-launch seasonal content.

The campaign will follow a near-future geopolitical conflict and allow players to switch perspectives between different characters and factions.

EA confirmed that feedback from the beta is already being implemented ahead of release, with adjustments planned for weapon balancing, map flow, and matchmaking speed.

McArthur added: “This beta was a crucial step in ensuring we are delivering the best possible game on day one. The community’s passion and input have been invaluable.”

With the record-breaking beta turnout and launch just two months away, Battlefield 6 appears poised for one of the strongest openings in the series’ history.
