The Housemaid director Paul Feig says Sydney Sweeney was “completely present emotionally” on set despite the breakdown of her relationship.
Sydney Sweeney “didn’t bring any issues” to the set of The Housemaid while her engagement was “falling apart”.
The film’s director, Paul Feig, has praised the Euphoria star for maintaining her professionalism at work despite dealing with the breakdown of her relationship with her former fiancé, Jonathan Davino, whom she dated for seven years.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Paul said: “She was completely present emotionally.”
He continued: “And I know she was going through some things when this was going on — I mean, now everybody knows about her engagement falling apart and breaking off and all that.”
That didn’t stop the Bridesmaids helmer checking in on her.
He recalled: “I’d say, ‘Hey, are you OK?’ and she’d go, ‘I’m fine, I’m great!’ but not defensively.”
In the same interview, Sydney, 27, was asked if she and film producer Jonathan, 42, will continue working together under their Fifty-Fifty Films banner.
She said: “I’m going to keep all of my personal stuff out of it.”
Sydney – who got engaged to Jonathan in 2022 – confirmed she was single in May when asked by The Times newspaper, simply replying: “Yes.”
The confirmation of Sydney’s breakup came after it had been claimed by insiders that she had become “overwhelmed” by the thought of planning a wedding and instead chose to focus on her hectic schedule instead.
A source told People: “She’s exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects.
“What did make her overwhelmed, though, was her relationship and her wedding. She didn’t feel right about it.”
“She’s in the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of a few years ago. This is what she wants to focus on right now.
“She’s not ready to settle down. They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”
