Noah Cyrus ignores any “drama” surrounding her family.

The 25-year-old singer has found it “emotionally draining” having the spotlight on her loved ones following reports of a rift between her dad Billy Ray Cyrus and his kids after he divorced their mom, Tish Cyrus, in 2022, but she does her best not to engage or get involved with rumours and speculation.

She told People magazine: “I keep myself quite separated from any interest or ‘drama’ with the family. The one thing that’s connected us with the entire world is music, and that’s what’s the most important to us.

“Yeah, it emotionally is draining, but it doesn’t hurt us or touch us. It’s something that you really learn to keep separate and far away from yourself.”

Noah – who has siblings Brandi, 38, Trace, 36, Miley, 32, and 31-year-old Braison – insisted the dynamics with the family are good these days.

She said: “Everybody’s great and loves each other,” she adds. “I think when you grow up with that being normal — things being public — that it doesn’t quite reach you. At the end of the day, this is a family, and that’s really it: just going through normal family stuff.”

Noah’s new album, I Want My Loved Ones to Go with Me features a song written by Braison called Don’t Put It All on Me, and she admitted one lyric, “The words that were spoken / Mean nothing to me”, feels particularly apt to their relationship.

She said: “I think that really sums up a relationship with a sibling.

“There’s so many times, especially in my relationship with my siblings growing up, you fight and you say things — but that’s your family, and they’re always going to be there for you, and I’m lucky enough to say that that’s been my case with me and my siblings and my family.”

Another track on the album, Apple Tree, includes a sample of a recording of a hymn written by her great-grandfather and sung by her grandfather, while With You was the first song her dad ever wrote.

She said: “It really was beautiful to have that bloodline [running] through the record.”
