According to new certification filings by China’s Quality Certification Center, the S26 Ultra may feature a 4,855mAh unit – down from the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 5,000mAh capacity.
While the difference appears marginal, it has raised eyebrows among fans who were expecting Samsung to maintain or even expand battery size with its next flagship.
Industry analysts have suggested the change may be linked to design considerations.
The S26 Ultra is rumoured to sport a slimmer frame and new internal architecture, which could have required Samsung to slightly cut back on battery space.
However, it’s been claimed that the efficiency improvements expected from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Samsung’s Exynos 2600 processors could help offset the drop, ensuring similar or even improved real-world performance.
Charging speeds are also expected to increase, with support for 65W wired charging said to be coming to the S26 Ultra.
Some leakers have hinted at tweaks in thermal management, which could allow for better sustained charging speeds and reduce overheating during intensive use.
The S26 Ultra is also rumoured to bring several upgrades beyond the battery.
Reports suggest Samsung will refine its quad-camera system, potentially introducing a new 200MP main sensor and improved telephoto zoom capabilities.
A brighter AMOLED display with LTPO technology and further AI-driven software features are also said to be in development.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 line – which may include the S26 Pro and S26 Edge – in early 2026.
Until then, details on battery capacity and performance should be treated with caution, as specifications are not final.
