Nelly has spoken of his joy over relaunching his Apple Bottoms brand with a new twist.

The rapper, 50, has unveiled a collaboration with Bubly sparkling water to mark the return of the company’s crisp apple flavour, after a revival of his denim line in 2023 after a decade-long hiatus.

He has now paired Apple Bottoms with Bubly for a limited campaign in a partnership that includes the launch of Apple Bubly Jeans, embroidered with “Apple Bubly” in green stitching on the label’s trademark apple-shaped pockets.

The jeans are available through the Apple Bottoms website alongside a bundle featuring sparkling water, a tank top, keychain, mini denim clutch and iron-on patch.

Nelly told People about the launch: “You want to be able to pair up and double brand with companies that have similar structure in what it is that you’re doing, meaning they’ve been able to have unbelievable success in an area where I would have never thought people would be making money. Sparkling water, who knew?”

The campaign features a commercial set to a remix of Flo Rida and T-Pain’s 2007 hit Low, which famously referenced Apple Bottoms in its chorus.

In the updated version, the line has been reworked to promote the new Apple Bubly jeans.

Nelly said the brand’s revival has felt like a reunion with fans.

He added: “It’s like reuniting with a long-lost relative, so to speak.

“My fan base that had been showing me unbelievable support all throughout my career, they stood up for Apple Bottoms at that time where I think just all of the urban fashion was really the fashion at the time.”

Apple Bottoms, first launched in 2003, became a defining name in women’s urban fashion.

Its rise followed Nelly’s earlier foray into menswear with Vokal, though he admitted he never expected a women’s line to succeed in the same way.

He said: “I’m a country boy, man. We like curves. My mama’s got curves, my auntie’s got curves. We love the way you are. We love the way you look.

“Matter of fact, those jeans don’t fit because maybe the designer is not from where you’re from or don’t get why you dress like that or why you’re curved like that, but we understand it, and we were able to get the support.”
