Sir David Beckham’s style has become “more classic” over the years but his children keep him “young”.

The 50-year-old former footballer used to be known for his adventurous fashion sense and interesting hair styles, but his tastes have changed as he’s aged. However, he still likes to take inspiration from the younger generation and credits his four children – Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, will helping him stay stylish.

According to WWD, he said: “[My style is now] more classic … [My son] Cruz loves oversize trousers with a smart double-breasted jacket, so I got that idea from him.

“I might be slightly older now, but luckily, I have three sons and a daughter to keep me young.”

David went on to reveal he loves dressing for autumn and winter as it gives him the chance to add lots of cosy layers – and his new collection for clothing brand Boss channelled his penchant for knits and warm colours such as caramel, chocolate brown and navy blue.

He added: “I love this time of year, the layering, accessories and clothes that are stylish yet comfortable.

“Right from the early stages of development I wanted to create a collection inspired by the feeling I get when I am at home in the countryside in the colder months.”

He said of his second Beckham X Boss collection: “We tried to keep a few things in there from the first collection, but obviously we also changed it up and brought in some new pieces as well.

“There’s nothing worse than finding a great pair of trousers or sneakers or boots, and then the next season, they’re gone and you never see them again.

“I’m a creature of habit, so I go to the same restaurant, I go to the same places on vacation and I’m the same with clothing. If I find a great pair of sneakers, I’ll wear them forever, and that’s what we’re trying to create here.”

David signed the deal with Boss last year and revealed he’s planning to spend more of his time focusing on fashion and design.

In a statement released at the time, the sports star explained: “Over the last few years, I’ve been wanting to invest more time in design and fashion, but wanted to ensure I collaborated with a brand and team that could deliver something truly global and impactful.

“I’ve really enjoyed the collaboration with BOSS so far and have been impressed by the team’s ambition, creativity, and desire for excellence.

“I look forward to sharing what we’ve been working on so far, including the Fall/Winter 2024 campaign as the first step in our long-term partnership.”
