Samsung ‘to release One UI 8.5 beta programme later in 2025’

Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the One UI 8.5 beta programme in late 2025, with expanded AI features, improved performance, and tighter integration across the Galaxy ecosystem.

Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch its One UI 8.5 beta programme later in 2025.

According to a report from SamMobile, the new version of Samsung’s Android interface is already in development and its beta could release as early as November.

Insiders claim the beta will be available to select users in markets such as South Korea, the United States, and Germany, mirroring previous One UI test phases.

While official details remain scarce, leaks suggest One UI 8.5 will build on the foundation of Android 16, bringing refinements to Samsung’s AI suite – including the company’s on-device Galaxy AI tools first introduced in the Galaxy S24 series.

Users can reportedly expect upgrades to Live Translate, Generative Edit, and Circle to Search, as well as new features designed to integrate more seamlessly with Gemini, Google’s AI platform.

Samsung is also said to be focusing on improving device longevity and user control, with reports pointing to more granular battery health management tools and enhanced privacy dashboards.

The new update could also introduce faster system animations and a redesigned Quick Settings panel, building on user feedback from One UI 7.

If previous timelines are any indication, the One UI 8.5 beta will likely launch in November 2025 for flagship devices like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and later expand to models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.

Samsung has yet to confirm the beta’s release window, but sources familiar with the company’s roadmap say testing will coincide with the ramp-up to its next major hardware cycle expected in February 2026.
