Ashley Graham wishes she’d ‘worn more miniskirts’ in her 20s

Model Ashley Graham wishes she had “worn more miniskirts” when she was in her 20s – admitting she didn’t start wearing her hemlines above the knee until she was in her 30s because she had a “leg complex”.

Ashley Graham didn’t wear miniskirts until she was in her 30s because she had a “leg complex”.

The 37-year-old model has confessed she spent years hiding her pins under long hemlines and now looks back with regret because she wishes she’d worn “more miniskirts” when she was younger.

When asked for style advice she would give to her younger self, she told The Sunday Times newspaper: “Make it shorter! I wish I’d worn more mini things in my twenties.

“I only started wearing miniskirts in my late thirties because I had a leg complex. I wish I’d got over it sooner.”

In the interview, Ashley revealed she rarely ever wears heels these days and prefers a ballet flat to a towering stiletto.

She explained: “As much as people want to put me in heels, I’m like, can we not? I’m over 200lb and in my late thirties.

“I have so many of the Maison Margiela Tabis, lots of Alaia’s and Chanel’s ballet flats. I love them. I’m looking for the perfect bright yellow with a black toe Chanel ballet pump in a 42, if you know anybody.”

Ashley revealed her favourite item of clothing is a plain white shirt from R13 – and she loves them so much she has several storage just in case she needs them.

She told the publication: “White button-down shirts from R13. I bought five and put four in storage just in case. I wore them before I was pregnant, through my pregnancies and still now I cannot take them off.”

Ashley also shared her best style advice – admitting she would rather be late than leave the house in an outfit that doesn’t feel comfortable.

She said: “I always tell myself, if you’re uncomfortable leaving the house, take that extra ten minutes to change because it’s going to ruin the rest of your day. I’d rather be late.”

In a separate interview with WWD, Ashley shared her favourite fashion and beauty buys for fall – revealing she loves adding a leopard print scarf, wearing Hermes Santal Massioa perfume and slathering her lips with Revlon’s Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine Balm in Spiced Wine.

Her other top picks included a $1,050 cashmere T-shirt from The Row and a $3,690 leather bag from Balenciaga.
