After the title was listed as a Game Key Card on French retailer Auchan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be releasing on Nintendo Switch 2
Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to a new listing from French retailer Auchan, Ubisoft’s action-adventure title is coming to Nintendo’s latest console, with the game supposedly set to ship as a downloadable Game Key Card.
The listing mirrors previous leaks for Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, both of which were also discovered via similar placeholders ahead of their confirmations.
Adding further fuel to the rumours, the PEGI ratings website briefly listed Assassin’s Creed Shadows as coming to Nintendo hardware before the entry was quietly removed – a move that often precedes official announcements.
When asked about the possibility of releasing Shadows on Switch 2 during a recent investor call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot didn’t confirm the port outright, but offered a clear hint.
He said: “We are excited by the potential of the next Nintendo platform. Our goal has always been to bring Assassin’s Creed experiences to as many players as possible, on as many platforms as possible.”
If the game does release on Nintendo Switch 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be the first mainline entry in the series to launch on Nintendo hardware since Assassin’s Creed III Remastered in 2019.
Set in Feudal Japan, Shadows lets players switch between dual protagonists – samurai Yasuke and shinobi Naoe – in a vast, dynamic open world.
A Switch 2 version would likely rely on cloud or hybrid technology to deliver Ubisoft’s next-gen visuals on the portable console.
