Battlefield 6: Electronic Arts release free-to-play BR Battlefield REDSEC

Electronic Arts have released Battlefield: REDSEC, a free-to-play battle royale set within Battlefield 6 that introduces massive 100-player matches, new modes like Gauntlet and Portal, and the series’ largest map to date, Fort Lyndon.

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have officially launched their new free-to-play battle royale, Battlefield: REDSEC.

Available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Battlefield: REDSEC (short for Redacted Sector) drops players into Fort Lyndon – described by EA as the biggest map in Battlefield history – for all-out warfare.

The mode features 100-player matches that blend the large-scale destruction and tactical chaos of Battlefield 6 with familiar battle royale mechanics, including looting, armour upgrades, and missions to unlock powerful vehicles.

While it takes cues from genre giants like Call of Duty: Warzone, REDSEC promises its own twist on the formula, combining dynamic map destruction, vehicle combat, and a “ring of fire” mechanic reminiscent of Battlefield V: Firestorm.

The launch trailer, set to 2Pac and Dr. Dre’s California Love, showcases infantry and tanks clashing across collapsing skyscrapers and desert canyons.

REDSEC isn’t the only new addition, as the standalone release also includes Gauntlet – a 32-player elimination mode with five-minute rotating missions, and Portal – a sandbox creator that lets players build custom experiences across Fort Lyndon.

Both Battlefield 6 owners and free players can jump in, with shared seasonal progression and a unified battle pass.

EA has promised that REDSEC will evolve with community feedback and new seasonal updates, signaling the start of a new era for the Battlefield franchise.
