Metroid Prime 4: Beyond gets new gameplay trailer EIGHT YEARS after announcement

Nintendo has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, confirming its December 4 release on Switch and Switch 2 with new combat, traversal, and Amiibo figures.

Nintendo has finally released a full gameplay trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – eight years after the game was first announced in 2017.

The trailer offers the clearest look yet at Samus Aran’s long-awaited return in the upcoming action-adventure title.

The footage shows the game running on both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, highlighting improved visuals, fluid traversal, and expanded combat mechanics.

Players can spot new scanning tools, first-person firefights, and a striking new motorbike sequence – a first for the Metroid Prime series.

There is also a cinematic moment where Samus performs the now-iconic “Akira slide,” a nod to the legendary anime film.

The trailer confirmed new Amiibo figures, launching alongside the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, those being Samus and her bike on November 6, followed by antagonist Sylux on December 4 – the same day the game officially releases.

Originally developed by another studio – rumoured to be Bandai Namco Studios – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was rebooted in 2019 under Retro Studios, the Texas-based team behind the original Metroid Prime trilogy.

The shift significantly delayed production but appears to have restored fan confidence, with early reactions praising the trailer’s return to the series’ atmospheric exploration and dense sci-fi storytelling.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches worldwide on December 4, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
