After being delayed for a second time, Take-Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick is “highly confident” Grand Theft Auto VI can meet its new launch date of November 19, 2026.
Take-Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick is “highly confident” Grand Theft Auto VI can meet its new release date.
The highly-anticipated action/sanbox title was due to release in May 2026, but developer Rocktar Games has announced GTA VI will now launch on November 19, 2026 to give the studio enough time to “polish the title”.
Despite the pushback, Zelnick – who heads up Rockstar’s publisher Take-Two – is certain GTA VI will not be delayed again.
When IGN asked the studio boss if he was sure GTA VI would meet its new November 2026 release, he said: “I’m highly confident.
“And at the same time, there have been limited circumstances where more time was required to polish a title and make sure that it was spectacular and that time has been well-spent, when our competitors go to market before something was ready, bad things happen.
“That said, that said, I’m highly confident on the new date.”
Zelnick added Take-Two “wanted to give Rockstar the appropriate amount of time to polish the title and make sure it can be the very best it can be”.
On Thursday (07.11.25), Rockstar announced it would be delaying GTA VI again so that the studio could develop an experience fans have come to “expect and deserve”.
Rockstar also said it was “sorry for the adding additional time” to the wait for GTA VI, but was “incredibly excited” for fans to explore Leonida and Vice City when the game releases.
This is the second time GTA VI has been delayed, with the title first being pushed back from its autumn 2025 release window to May 2026.
