Skydance Games has delayed Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra beyond early 2026, marking its second postponement as Amy Hennig’s team takes more time to refine the ambitious World War II Marvel adventure.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed again, pushing its release beyond the “early 2026” window previously announced.
The highly-anticipated superhero adventure title from Skydance Games and Uncharted creator Amy Hennig had been due to release at some point early next year, but the studio has now confirmed the team needs more time to meet its creative and technical ambitions.
In a statement posted to social media, Skydance said: “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect.
“To fully realise our vision, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026.”
The studio did not provide a new reelase date for the game.
This marks the second major delay for Marvel 1943, which was initially slated for a late 2025 launch, before being postponed to early 2026 in May this year.
At the time, Skydance cited the need for additional polish to “deliver the best possible experience”.
Set during World War II, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra features Captain America, Black Panther, and a Wakandan spy working together in Axis-occupied Paris, with parts of the story also unfolding in Wakanda.
The title is being built in Unreal Engine 5 and aims to blend cinematic storytelling with action gameplay – a hallmark of Hennig’s previous work on Uncharted.
The game was first revealed at Disney’s D23 Expo in 2021 and resurfaced with an impressive trailer at last year’s Epic Games State of Unreal showcase.
While fans have expressed disappointment at another delay, the studio insists the extra development time will help ensure the game lives up to its ambitious promise of an “unforgettable, premium Marvel experience”.
