Lea Michele has introduced Glee to her five-year-old son Ever.
Lea Michele has shown Glee to her son.
The 39-year-old actress – who has Ever, five, and Emery, 15 months, with husband Zandy Reich – shot to fame playing Rachel Berry in the musical drama series from 2009 to 2015 and she has slowly started to introduce her work to her elder child, beginning with her rendition of Let It Go from the first episode of season six.
Lea told People magazine Ever is “really into” Frozen, the animated movie where Let It Go features, so she felt it was the perfect entry point into her career.
She said: “He has started to know that mommy is a singer and I wanted to play him me singing a song.”
The youngster saw Lea in action on Broadway in Funny Girl, so while he knows what she does for a living, he didn’t quite grasp Glee.
She said: “He doesn’t understand that it was a television show.”
And despite his love of Frozen, Lea and Zandy haven’t yet revealed to Ever that his mom’s good friend Jonathan Groff is one of the main voice actors in the movie.
Lea said: “We have not told him that Uncle Jonathan is Kristoff. I want to keep that for as long as I can.”
While it has been a decade since Glee ended, Lea loves to pay homage to the show while on tour by quizzing the audience on their favourite covers from the programme.
She said: “It’s just such a special moment for me because it brings back so many memories of songs that I had done on the show or things that might’ve resonated with the fans that I may not remember, but that they connected to so much.
“For me, that is always such an amazing moment of connection with my fans and takes me down an amazing walk down memory lane, if you will.”
The former Scream Queens star previously spoke about her children’s close relationship with Jonathan, 40.
She said: “Ever and Emery love him so much. [Jonathan] has a very special relationship with both of my children.
“A really special moment recently was when I took my son to go see him in his Broadway show [Just in Time]. Jonathan came up to Ever during the show and sang to him.
“Ever was smiling from ear to ear.
“We have been singing Somewhere Beyond the Sea, and Splish Splash every night at home now.”
