Phantom Blade Zero will be a PS5 exclusive for 12 months, S-GAME confirms

Phantom Blade Zero will launch on PS5 and PC in September 2026, with S-GAME confirming a 12-month PlayStation console exclusivity window before any potential release on other platforms.

S-GAME has confirmed that Phantom Blade Zero will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive for its first 12 months.

The Wuxia-inspired action RPG is set to release on September 9, 2026, arriving day one on PS5 and PC, but the studio has clarified that versions for other consoles will not appear until at least one full year after its initial launch.

This means Phantom Blade Zero will not be playable on Xbox Series X|S or Nintendo Switch 2 until September 2027 at the earliest.

The exclusivity window was quietly confirmed via a PlayStation-published trailer, which included the familiar “console exclusive” disclaimer at the end.

Phantom Blade Zero has steadily built momentum since its reveal, standing out for its striking martial arts combat and stylised Eastern aesthetic.

The upcoming title follows Soul, an elite assassin framed for murder and forced to unravel a conspiracy while fighting against the clock.

Its latest trailer, released at The Game Awards, showcased fluid, cinematic combat that blends weapon-based techniques with acrobatic movement.

Despite frequent comparisons to Soulslike games, developer S-GAME has been keen to push back against that label.

Studio founder and CEO Soulframe Liang has described Phantom Blade Zero as neither a traditional Soulslike nor a standard hack-and-slash title.

While the game features interconnected maps and checkpoint systems that echo FromSoftware’s design, Liang has said the pace is faster and the structure more closely aligned with classic action games, stitched together by a distinct cultural identity.

The timed exclusivity reflects Sony’s continued strategy of securing high-profile third-party titles to bolster the PS5 lineup, particularly as competition intensifies ahead of the next hardware cycle.

For S-GAME, the arrangement offers a high-visibility launch window on PlayStation while keeping the door open to broader platform support later.
