Timothée Chalamet has named Susan Boyle among his five all-time great Brits, alongside the likes of Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham.
Timothée Chalamet admires Susan Boyle for dreaming “bigger than all of us”.
The 29-year-old actor is a huge fan of the former Britain’s Got Talent singer, who was a runner-up in 2009 after shocking the world with her viral audition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables.
The Hollywood star told the BBC: “She dreamt bigger than all of us. Who wasn’t moved by that?
“I remember that like it was yesterday. That was like the advent of YouTube, you know?”
Timothée had named the 64-year-old Scottish singer among his five favourite Brits, after handing out jackets promoting his new film Marty Supreme to people who he deems great.
Thus far, he has handed out jackets to the likes of NFL icon Tom Brady, Barcelona’s teen ace Lamine Yamal, and swimmer Michael Phelps.
As well as Susan, he also named Formula One star Lewis Hamilton, both Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham, and rapper Fakemink.
The Ladybird and Wonka actor is also chasing greatness himself, and recently opened up about the disappointment of not winning an Oscar yet.
He’s been in the running for an Academy Award twice without winning, coming close in 2018 with Call Me By Your Name, and earlier this year as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
He told Vogue magazine: “If there’s five people at an awards show, and four people go home losing, you don’t think those four people are at the restaurant like, ‘Damn, we didn’t win?’
“I’ve been around some deeply generous, no-ego actors, and maybe some of them are going, ‘That was fun.’ But I know for a fact a lot of them are going, ‘F***!’” he said.
“People can call me a try-hard, and they can say whatever the f***. But I’m the one actually doing it here.”
In February, he broke records to become the youngest ever Best Actor winner at the SAG Awards for his role as Dylan.
After accepting the award, he said: “I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness.
“I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight.”
