Nikki Glaser believes that celebrities are “fair game” for her jibes as she returns to host the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (11.01.26).
Nikki Glaser won’t be afraid to mock celebrities at the Golden Globes.
The 41-year-old comedian is returning to host the ceremony for the second year running on Sunday (11.01.26) and believes that all of the stars in attendance are “fair game” for her jibes.
Nikki told People: “Everyone is fair game. I really feel that way.
“I was even thinking, like, ‘Oh, I’ll leave plus ones alone, they don’t deserve it. They’re not there being honoured’, but I feel like (that’s fair).”
She added: “There’s some people that are protected figures, and, like, other people might get upset on their behalf, but that’s really none of my business.
“And if the person that I’m doing the joke to laughs, I think that’s a reason enough for me to do it.”
Nikki’s Golden Globes debut was well-received last year and she explained that she doesn’t want to be too scathing when she pokes fun at the A-listers.
She said: “I’m not gonna be so mean that anyone is going to hate me for the rest of their careers, or I’m gonna have to avoid them the rest of mine.
“I’m writing from a place of love, and I wouldn’t do a joke about someone that I actually didn’t like.”
Glaser continued: “So if I do write a joke about you or do a joke to you, it’s because I admire you and I think you are probably cool and have a good sense of humour.
“I don’t do jokes about people who I just don’t think are cool, and that I don’t really even care to talk to or give the time of day.”
Nikki revealed earlier this week that she had been warned against making jokes about “America’s sweetheart” Julia Roberts in her opening monologue when she hosts the Golden Globes in Los Angeles.
Speaking on CBS Mornings, she said: “I’m trying out my monologue around LA, at the clubs here, and just even any joke about Julia Roberts, they are not there for.
“You cannot make fun of America’s Sweetheart. So, whatever I end up saying about her, that is the most fine-tuned joke that I’ve worked on so hard, because it is very delicate.”
