The 44-year-old singer has been reminiscing about Destiny’s Child’s chart-topping single, as the iconic music video turns 25 this year, and Kelly has revealed that she actually lost her wig amid the shoot.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Kelly – who starred in the girl group alongside Beyonce and Michelle Williams – shared: “Funny enough, me and the girls were talking about this the other day. There’s a helicopter that comes down on the water. It’s getting closer and closer and closer because in the scene, we’re like, ‘Help us, we’re lost.’
“My wig goes taking off, flying across the dirt beach!”
Kelly admits that she never got her wig back, either.
The singer – who wore a military-style outfit for the up-tempo music video – said: “I felt all this extra air and sure enough, my wig was off my head and down the beach somewhere. Somebody took that thing. It was gone.”
Kelly jokingly added: “Sony has it somewhere.”
Meanwhile, Kelly previously revealed that she remains very close to her Destiny’s Child bandmates.
The singer observed that “female tribes are crucial to life” and Kelly explained that she remains very supportive of her showbiz pals.
Kelly – who has also achieved significant success as a solo artist – told ELLE: “I hear so many people call it a ‘tribe’ now and it’s very true, you need your tribe.
“So many women say, ‘oh my god, I love your relationship with the girls [Destiny’s Child]’ … and it’s because we all genuinely want to see each other be great and go after things that we’re passionate about. And if we feel like one [of us] needs a little push, we do that, whether they’re ready for it or not.
“It’s about being there and making sure they push themselves. You have to be able to have that honesty, love and admiration for each other. I think that female tribes are crucial to life, to everything.”
