Apple ‘working on AI-powered glasses, AirPods and pendant’

Apple is reportedly ramping up development of a trio of AI-focused wearable devices – smart glasses, camera-equipped AirPods and a clip-on pendant.

Apple is reportedly developing AI-powered smart glasses, camera-equipped AirPods and a clip-on pendant.

According to Bloomberg, the products are being designed around an upgraded version of Siri that can interpret visual context, allowing the assistant to respond based on what a user is seeing in real time.

The supposed devices will link closely to the iPhone, leaning on it for processing power while expanding Apple’s ecosystem into always-on, camera-enabled accessories.

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently hinted at the company’s broader ambitions, saying Apple is working on new “categories of products” enabled by AI.

He added: “We’re extremely excited about that.”

Cook also acknowledged the pace of change in the sector, stating: “The world is changing fast.”

Bloomberg claims the most advanced of the three projects is a pair of smart glasses – reportedly code-named N50 – which could enter production as early as late 2026 ahead of a potential 2027 release.

Unlike the company’s high-end Apple Vision Pro headset, the glasses are expected to forgo a display, instead using cameras, microphones and speakers to deliver contextual AI assistance – similar in concept to offerings from Meta’s Ray-Bans.

The pendant and AirPods will reportedly feature lower-resolution cameras designed primarily to feed visual data into Siri, rather than capture media.

Internally, the pendant is said to have been described as the “eyes and ears” of the iPhone.

Apple has faced challenges modernising Siri, with AI upgrades delayed in recent years.

However, the company is said to be preparing a more conversational, chatbot-style assistant for iOS 27 later this year.
