Sir David Beckham’s children wanted to know if his knighthood meant they’d receive any special perks.
The former England soccer captain – who has Brooklyn,, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and 14-year-old Harper with wife Victoria Beckham – received the honour from King Charles in November 2025 and he joked his kids were particularly keen to find out if there were any benefits to his new title.
Speaking on talkSport, David said: “My kids [did] turn around to me and said, ‘Do we get any privileges? Like any?’
“I was, like, ‘Well, apart from the ones that you already got, absolutely not.’ “
However, the 51-year-old retired sportsman – who received an OBE from the late Queen Elizabeth in 2021 – admitted there has been one change in his life since receiving his knighthood.
He said: “The only thing that changed was my note paper that I send out to people [in] thank you letters. That’s the only thing that really changed.”
David received the honour in front of his parents, Victoria, and their three youngest children and admitted the investiture ceremony was the “best day of [his] life” outside of significant family occasions.
He said: “I mean, [the ceremony] was unbelievable. It was probably the best day of my life other than, obviously, when my kids were born and when I got married. It was special to receive that.”
Victoria previously gushed that the ceremony was “everything” and meant a lot to their family.
She said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: “It was everything. We are both so patriotic, so proud to be British.
“So, for David to be knighted by the King of our country it meant so much. It was a real, real ‘pinch me’ moment. And I think the whole country is so proud of him, everything that he’s achieved.
“We are so proud of him. What he’s done for the sport, and also his philanthropic work, is amazing. So, we’re so proud of him, so deserved.”
David – whose eldest son Brooklyn is estranged from the family – previously admitted he shed a “few tears” after receiving his knighthood at Windsor Castle.
He told The Sun newspaper at the time: “Today has been such an emotional day — more emotion than nerves, in all honesty.
“There have been a few tears and a lot of emotion. It’s been a very special day. It’s something that we can all be proud of today as a family.
“To have grown up in the East End of London, always dreaming of becoming a professional footballer, always wanting to play for Manchester United and represent my country, everything else that’s come after that has been so special.
“To have my parents there today, to have my wife there to celebrate with my children, it makes it a very emotional day.
“To receive such an important honour from His Majesty the King — one of the most elegant men, and someone from the most important and respected institution in the world.
“For me, as a boy from Leytonstone, to have stood today in front of His Majesty, knighted in Windsor Castle — it’s a very surreal moment.”
