Eric Dane appears in newly released trailer for Euphoria season three

After his death aged 53 earlier this year, actor Eric Dane has appeared in the newly released trailer for Euphoria season three.

Eric Dane appears in the newly released trailer for Euphoria season three.

Marking a final on-screen return following his death aged 53 earlier this year, the actor had completed filming his scenes for the HBO drama before his death on 19 February, nearly a year after publicly revealing his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.

The new trailer, released on Monday (30.03.26), offers a brief glimpse of Eric reprising his role as Cal Jacobs, the father of Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi.

In the scene, Eric’s character is reunited with Jules, portrayed by Hunter Schafer, a character with whom he shared a raunchy storyline in the first season.

The exchange features Jules asking: “Remember me?” to which Cal replies: “How could I forget?”

In a statement to People in April 2025, Eric said: “I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of Euphoria next week.”

The publication reported he resumed filming just four days after sharing the diagnosis publicly.

Eric’s family confirmed his death in a statement to People.

They said: “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”

They added: “Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”

Sharon Stone, who joins the cast of the new season of Euphoria as a guest star, spoke about Eric’s connection to the role. She told Entertainment Tonight: “Eric and I have been friends for a long time. A long time. And I actually was like his support staff when he was trying to get the job on Euphoria.

“So he would come over to my house and bring me gluten-free cookies, and we’d sit and discuss it because he really wanted that job.”

She added: “It means the world to me that he got that job in time.”

The new season will also see returning cast members including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Chloe Cherry, Colman Domingo and Nika King.

According to the official logline, the series follows “a group of childhood friends wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil”.

Euphoria season three will premiere on 12 April on HBO and HBO Max.
