Schitt’s Creek co-creator Dan Levy has revealed he was “thinking about” bringing the show back.
Dan Levy was “thinking about” a Schitt’s Creek sequel before Catherine O’Hara’s death.
The 42-year-old actor – who co-wrote and starred in the hit sitcom with his famous father Eugene – has admitted while he was considering bringing the show back, those plans have been scrapped after O’Hara died in January aged 71 after a brief illness.
Asked if he would make more episodes, he told CBS’ Sunday Morning: “No, not now. We can’t. I was thinking about it.”
The show followed the Rose family, who lots their fortune and had to relocate to the titular Schitt’s Creek and had to get used to a very different lifestyle surrounded by a cast of quirky and lovable characters.
Dan revisited Goodwood, Ontario, which acted as the fictional town in the show, for the new interview.
He admitted: “It’s tough, it’s tough being back. I didn’t think that I’d have quite an emotional reaction.
Just a lot of memories, a lot of memories with Catherine. It’s what you have to hold on to, is the memories of it all.”
He tearfully admitted they all 2had the best time” making the show.
He added: “It’s an amazing thing to be a part of something that she loved so much. You know, it feels very special. It’s what you have to hold onto, is the memories of it all.”
Last week, Dan revealed he has taken “great comfort” in “how loved” O’Hara was.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon after the host offered his condolences, Dan said: “Listen, it’s like a collective loss, I think. She was the greatest. She’s irreplaceable.
“The great comfort for me has just been to see how loved she was, you know what I mean? The outpouring. Everyone felt like they kind of knew her.”
When Catherine’s death was announced earlier this year, Dan paid tribute to his on-screen mom on Instagram.
He wrote on Instagram: “What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years.
“Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her.
He concluded, “My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke and every member of her big, beautiful family.”
