Danielle Fishel admits cancer scare has changed her outlook, but how?

Danielle Fishel has opened up about her approach to life after overcoming cancer.

Danielle Fishel is determined to remain “active” following her cancer scare.

The 44-year-old actress is now cancer-free after undergoing two surgeries and 20 rounds of radiation, and Danielle admits that the experience has transformed her outlook on life.

The TV star – who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024 – told People: “I’m trying to think of self-care as not being a luxury or an indulgence. It’s a bare minimum that I owe to myself to keep myself active enough that I can do the things that bring me joy, like dancing.”

Danielle has also found joy in hosting her podcasts, Pod Meets World – where she appears alongside her former Boy Meets World co-stars Rider Strong and Will Friedle – and Teen Beat.

She said: “I love being with Rider and Will every single week.

“Being with friends who have known you since you were 12 years old, and are willing to support you through the highs and lows of your life, and now to be raising families together and to see them thrive, those kinds of relationships really remind you what life is about.”

Danielle – who has Adler, six, and Keaton, four, with husband Jensen Karp – also loves spending quality time with her children.

She said: “Just watching my kids start to thrive. Seeing them in dance class. My oldest is very interested in baseball, and he’s a really good baseball player. Really watching them become the people they’re going to be is bringing me a lot of joy.”

Meanwhile, Danielle previously confessed that she has always been “very hard on [herself]”.

The actress – who competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2025 – revealed that she was “actively” working on being more “proud” of herself and her career achievements.

She told Extra: “Being proud of myself is something I actively work on. It doesn’t come naturally to me.

“Being very hard on myself comes naturally to me, and that’s benefited me in my life. Like, I can see the pros of that. You know, it makes me work hard … It’s part of the reason I’ve had success.

“On the other hand, when I do something well, my next thought is like, ‘Okay, what’s the next thing I have to do?’”
