PlayStation provides gamers with the chance to feature in their favourite titles

Sony is offering PlayStation gamers the chance to feature in their favourite titles on the console through The Playerbase programme.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled a new community initiative that will give players the chance to appear inside their favourite games.

The programme, dubbed The Playerbase, will allow one fan to collaborate directly with a first-party studio and have their likeness featured in-game.

The initiative will begin with Gran Turismo 7, with plans to expand to other titles in the future.

Describing the project, Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said it offers a “unique opportunity for PlayStation’s biggest fans to step into some of the biggest game worlds by having their likeness scanned and appear in a PlayStation game”.

As part of the first rollout, the selected fan will be invited to a PlayStation Visual Arts studio in Los Angeles, where they will undergo a full character scan. Their likeness will then appear as an in-game portrait in Gran Turismo 7 for a limited time.

The winner will also work with developers to design a custom Fantasy Logo and vehicle livery, which will remain permanently available in the game’s Showcase mode.

To enter, players aged 18 and over must register via the Playerbase website and submit a personal story about their connection to PlayStation. Applicants will be judged on creativity, engagement with the brand, and their overall gaming history.

Shortlisted candidates will then take part in a video interview, where their passion for PlayStation and Gran Turismo will be assessed further.

The final winner is expected to be selected in summer 2026, with their in-game appearance arriving later in the year.

The Playerbase initiative follows PlayStation’s recent push to engage its community more directly, marking another step in bringing fans closer to the games they love.
