Boxer Chris Eubank Jr has opened up about the “indescribable feeling” of becoming a father to twins in Dubai just a day before the outbreak of war in the Middle East earlier this year.
Chris Eubank Jr became a father to twin boys in a Dubai war zone.
The 36-year-old boxer revealed last week that his partner had given birth to twins and has now explained how the twins – named Axl and Kade – arrived just a day before the United States and Israel attacked Iran in February, sparking conflict in the Middle East.
Eubank Jr wrote on Instagram: “Say Hello to the Eubank Twins. Axl and Kade. They were born in Dubai on Feb 27 and the next day we were attacked! It’s an indescribable feeling hearing explosions outside, while you’re in hospital with your newborns.
“These boys were literally born into war… I know they will grow to be strong, resilient and brave just like the people of the UAE.”
Eubank Jr had hailed fatherhood as “the greatest” achievement of his life as he announced the birth of the twins last month.
He captioned his post on social media: “I’ve done a lot of great things in my life… This is the greatest.”
Eubank Jr had revealed that he was going to become a father in the lead-up to his rematch loss to Conor Benn last November but explained that he has no intention of disclosing the identity of his partner.
The British fighter – the son of legendary former two-weight world champion Chris Eubank – told The Independent: “My private life should remain private, that’s how I have always seen it. What people don’t know and what people don’t see, they cannot target, they cannot ruin, they cannot try to interfere with.
“There’s no benefit, in my opinion, to exposing private relationships to the world. What benefits are there? If you go out and look at all these high-profile relationships, how many of them last?
“Cheating, scandal, divorce, whatever it is – social media does nothing but ruin relationships.”
Eubank Jr continued: “I saw that from very early on, I experienced it with my mother and father. Their split was very public, and it was hard to watch, and it was embarrassing.
“Everybody knew that my parents were getting divorced, and I knew from that age that, whatever relationship I got into, I wasn’t going to make it public. It’s unnecessary.”
