Paris Fury has insisted her husband Tyson Fury’s feud with his father John Fury is “not a social media stunt”, and she is desperate for the pair to reconcile, insisting they “love each other deeply”.
Paris Fury hopes her husband Tyson Fury can resolve his fallout with his father John Fury, because they “love each other deeply”.
John recently claimed his relationship with son and heavyweight boxer Tyson has been “completely destroyed”, sparking speculation that it was a publicity stunt ahead of Tyson’s comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov earlier this month, which he won.
However, Paris, 36, has insisted the feud is not “a social media stunt”, and she wants the father and son pair to reconcile.
Speaking on Jamie Laing’s In Good Company podcast, she said: “Tyson and his dad seem to have a rocky relationship at the moment.
“They always go through this. You know you’ve got two very headstrong people.
“One probably more headstrong than the other.
“Everyone’s saying it is a social media stunt and it’s not.
“It’s a family rift that’s going on at the moment and I hope they resolve it because I think there’s nothing more important than your family.
“I know they love each other deeply deep down and for whatever reason whether it be pride, or whatever – they have an issue, his dad has an issue.
“And I hope they can resolve it.”
Paris backs Tyson, 37, to make his own decisions, and admitted John hasn’t always been right in the past.
She added: “Tyson knew his dad had certain feelings to people in the camp and he’s always said I am my own man and I’ll do things my own way, and he has always done that.
“And that this is where he’s got for it, so he looks at it like, ‘I’ve done my own choices all my life.’
“His dad’s had opinions on different things he shouldn’t have done in the past and he’s done and it’s went unbelievably well.
“He said don’t fight Deontay Wilder. It’s the best trilogy in boxing history.”
In March, John blamed boxing for “completely destroying” his and Tyson’s relationship.
Ahead of Tyson’s comeback fight this month, he told Playbook Boxing: “My relationship with Tyson is destroyed. Boxing destroyed it completely. I’ll say it on camera: I’ve never taken £10 off him in my life and I never will.
“I don’t want Tyson’s money and I don’t need Tyson’s money.
“Whatever he’s got, good luck to him. But, don’t forget who built his story when he was a kid. He didn’t build it himself, did he? Me, his father.”
John insisted Tyson is “past his best” in terms of his boxing career, and he was keen for him to retire after his final fight against Deontay Wilder.
