Simone Biles wants to stay inside “where it’s free” after spending $23,000 on a stylist, hair and makeup team.
The 29-year-old Olympian was gobsmacked after splashing out the huge sum on a glam squad for a recent red carpet event.
Sharing the high figure with her TikTok followers, she said in a video: “I just need to know if this is normal.
“I know going outside is expensive as f*** these days, but is it this expensive? Is that f****** normal?
“I get prices these days have gone up, but if that’s the new norm, y’all can have it.
“Y’all will never see me at another event. I’m going to sit my a** right here where it’s free. I’ve been kind of spiralling since then.”
Fans in the comments admitting their “jaw dropped at that number”, while others suggested Simone – who didn’t specify which event outfit and style sparked the huge cost – doesn’t need a stylist and should just pick out her own looks.
However, she replied: “So so sweet. I would love to show up in my Oh Polly, House of CB, Club L London dress trusstttt!
“BUT the internet will disagree with you. They be on my a** tearing me apart. (sic)”
The superstar gymnast has been in the spotlight since she was teenager after wining a gold medal at the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships in Belgium when she was just 16 and she went on to become the most decorated gymnast in history – but Simone is adamant her success became a burden and she needed professional help to cope.
She recently told Harper’s Bazaar Spain: “Yes [success became a burden]. Achieving success so young was very difficult.
“Suddenly everyone is watching you, telling you how to act, how to speak. I was afraid of disappointing them.
“That’s why I started going to therapy. I needed to learn how to handle the pressure, how to remain true to myself. It was a crucial decision: taking care of my mind saved me as an athlete and as a person …
“I still go to therapy every week. It keeps me grounded and helps me process everything that’s happening in my life and in the world. It’s my safe haven, the place where I learn to be kind to myself.”
