Brenda Song reveals her kids’ hilarious reaction to seeing her in Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior

Brenda Song has revealed how her and Macaulay Culkin’s children reacted to seeing her in a Disney Channel movie.

Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin’s children had a hilarious reaction to seeing their mother in Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior.

The 38-year-old star, who has sons Dakota, five, and Carson, three, with the Home Alone actor, has revealed her kids’ reaction to seeing her in the 2006 Disney Channel kung-fu fantasy action movie, and admitted they didn’t quite “understand” that she was playing a role.

She told the Not Gonna Lie podcast: “Mac has—behind my back—shown them things that I’ve been in. Our oldest was really into like superheroes and like Ninja Turtles…

“and Mac showed them [Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior]. And my son, because they’re so used to watching videos of themselves, and like digital age, they’re so confused.

“They’re like, ‘Why is Mama flying across a warehouse all doing kicks? Why is Mama doing back flips?’

“And they were like, ‘Can you do that, mama? Can you do that right now?’ And I was like, ‘How do I explain this to the kids?’ And I looked at Mac, and I was like, ‘How dare you do this to me?'”

Instead of setting things straight, Brenda joked she was happy to let her sons believe she has those skills.

She quipped: “Now, ‘You better listen to mama because otherwise mama will be doing flying sidekicks from across the room.’ “

Her eldest son was asked at school “what does your mama do for work?”, and he had a simple answer.

Brenda said: “And the teacher told me, he goes, ‘Oh, my mama talks. She talks for a living.’ He’s not wrong, but that’s what he thinks.”

Their boys are similarly in the dark with their famous dad Macaulay, 45, and they can’t quite grasp that he played Kevin McCallister as a child star.

Brenda, who can currently be seen in Netflix series Running Point, explained: “It’s really weird for them because I think they just think this was like us when we were younger, the way that they look at pictures of them when they were younger.

“For me, it’s a little bit different because I feel like I still look the same, [but] for Mac, they don’t understand that he is Kevin.

“They love Home Alone. They watched it for the first time this past year. They love it. They don’t understand that that’s their papa.”
