Gemma Arterton’s wedding veil secret

Gemma Arterton has revealed the veil she wore on her wedding day was embroidered with hand-written messages from her husband Rory Keenan and members of her family.

Gemma Arterton’s wedding veil was embroidered with hand-written messages from her husband Rory Keenan.

The Quantum of Solace star, 40, married the actor in Ireland in 2019 and she’s now opened up about the bespoke wedding dress and matching veil she wore for her walk down the aisle – revealing the veil featured special notes sewn along the seams.

She told The Sunday Times: “When I got married I wore a bespoke, hand-embroidered wedding dress and veil designed by Hermione de Paula, which is so beautiful.

“There were about ten women who embroidered it, they sewed in handwritten messages from my family and my husband in the seams. The veil is now framed in my house”.

It comes after Gemma recently confirmed she has become a mother for the second time after keeping her pregnancy completely secret.

Gemma welcomed her second child with Rory late last year and she went public with the news during an appearance on the Dish podcast, admitting she was enjoying a rare day off from parenting duties.

She said: “I’m happy to be let out for the day. I’ve got two kids now and it’s just hard.” She went on to add: “I’ve just had another kid, and so I’m in the thick of that. But, but it’s all lovely. And, getting back into it again. You know, coming back from the brink of exhaustion, you know. You know, but it’s all good.”

Gemma did not reveal her new baby’s name or gender during the appearance on the podcast. She previously kept her first pregnancy quiet until she showed off her baby bump on the red carpet at the Raindance Film Festival awards in November 2022.

After her son was born, Gemma revealed he arrived shortly before Christmas. During an appearance on BBC Radio 2 in February 2023, she said: “We are very very happy, he was born just before Christmas. A little Christmas elf.”

Gemma and her family currently live in the Sussex countryside after making the move from London around four years ago and the actress admitted the one thing she misses about living in the city is the food.

Speaking on the Dish, she explained: “You can’t get good sushi where we are. On your doorstep … We always talk about that. You can get it like that. It’s a gastropub vibes.

“So that’s why I asked [co-host chef] Angela [Hartnett] to do pasta today, because I don’t think you can get good pasta around where we are. But you do get good roasts.”
