Taylor Swift was ‘absolutely dazzled’ by Toy Story 5

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has revealed she was “absolutely dazzled” by Toy Story 5 and confessed it’s now her “favorite Toy Story movie”.

Taylor Swift was “absolutely dazzled” by Toy Story 5 and it’s now her “favorite” movie in the franchise.

The pop superstar wrote new song I Knew It, I Knew You for the film after seeing some early footage and she’s now confessed she fell in love with the Pixar movie after seeing the end result.

Speaking in ABC’s upcoming special celebrating the Toy Story franchise, Taylor said: “I was absolutely dazzled by it. It is my favorite Toy Story movie.”

The Life Of A Showgirl star is the only songwriter to have penned music for the franchise aside from composer Randy Newman, who wrote Toy Story theme song You’ve Got a Friend in Me for the 1995 original.

She added of the honour: “I felt wonderful knowing that I had Randy’s blessing to write for this film given that I’m the first songwriter to get to partake in the Toy Story world outside of Randy.”

The singer was so moved by the film, she had to wipe away a tear during the interview, saying: “Don’t mind me. [I] just really liked the movie.”

Taylor attended the Los Angeles premiere of Toy Story 5 on Tuesday (09.06.26) and she treated the audience to a surprise performance of I Knew It, I Knew You after the screening while she also performed You’ve Got a Friend in Me with Newman.

During the premiere, Taylor was seen chatting to the film’s stars and she even brought along a VHS copy of the first film for Tom Hanks and Tim Allen – who voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear – to sign for her.

Hanks told USA Today: “I did not get a selfie [with Taylor], but I did sign her original VHS of the first Toy Story! … I told her she should have brought in the VHS machine so that we could have signed it as that could go into the Smithsonian Institute as well.”

Taylor’s song I Knew It, I Knew You was written and produced with long‑time collaborator Jack Antonoff and she has launched three exclusive CD editions through her official website, each featuring a different version of the song – the film version, an acoustic take, and a piano rendition – all with alternate vocals and production.

When the song was announced, Taylor admitted on social media she had “always dreamed” of working on the Toy Story soundtrack.

She wrote alongside a video of herself dressed as the character Jessie as a child: “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a five year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie.

“I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?

“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a @toystory kid from the age of five til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
