Robert Lindsay: Harris Dickinson hasn’t got a sense of humour

Robert Lindsay has insisted Harris Dickinson has “not got a sense of humour” after the actor previously complained he had been “humiliated” by the veteran star.

The Babygirl actor previously told how an unnamed colleague had upset him during a guessing game by using “insulting working-class stereotypes” to describe him, and after dismissing a suggestion it was Ralph Fiennes, exclaimed he had “been caught” when then asked if it was his Maleficent: Mistress of Evil co-star.

And now, Robert has been asked about the row and told The Sunday Times’ Culture magazine: “Oh my God! Poor lad, he’s obviously not got a sense of humour. Everyone was bored s******* so I invented a stupid game…

“It’s a game many actors play, called Sensations. Angelina Jolie loved it. She thought it was the silliest f***ing game she’d ever played, and she wanted to be on all the time. We said, ‘No, you can’t.’

“The poor kid, someone pretended to be him and upset him. I certainly didn’t because I invented the game. Mind you, if he’s playing John Lennon he’d better get tuned in to being working class.”

Harris had said the actor was “middle-to-upper class”, and 76-year-old Robert admitted that particularly “hit a nerve”.

He said: “This has hit a nerve, because I didn’t know anything about this.

“I went to Derby University the other day and they asked why I talked posh. And I said, ‘I went to college to learn to speak posh.’…

“I’m not posh, at all. Poor bugger.”

Harris previously told how he was singled out on set during the game.

He told The Sunday Times: “A w*****, middle to upper class. He was playing this game where you pretend to be someone and everyone has to guess who it is by asking questions.

“Someone asked, ‘What food are you?’ and he said, ‘Fish and chips’. Then, ‘What TV show are you?’ and he said, ‘Love Island’.

“Everyone was laughing. It was humiliating.”

Harris refused to directly name the actor but denied speculation it was Ralph Fiennes, with whom he starred in The King’s Man in 2021.

He said: “No, it’s not Ralph. Ralph’s a sweetheart.”

When pressed about whether it might have been Robert, Harris replied: “F***! I’ve been caught!” – before declining to elaborate further.
