Jelly Roll files for divorce from Bunnie Xo

Singer/rapper Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie Xo after almost a of marriage.

Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie Xo after a decade of marriage.

The 41-year-old singer/rapper submitted paperwork to end the union in Williamson County, Tennessee on May 18, according to TMZ.com with sources telling the website the split was a “mutual decision” and remains a “private family matter”.

Jelly Roll – real name Jason DeFord – married Bunnie Xo – whose real name is Alisa DeFord – in 2016.

The split news comes after Bunnie XO recently opened up about the ups and downs of the couple’s marriage revealing it’s important to love someone even when they are “at their lowest” because “everybody deserves a second chance”.

Speaking to PEOPLE earlier this year, she explained: “When you are with somebody for a long time, you are going to have to love them at their lowest. And I truly believe that true love is not about so much as accepting things that you shouldn’t, but I do think that everybody deserves a second chance.

“Loving somebody at their lowest is one of the most beautiful things you can do, especially if they bloom and they blossom like my husband has.”

While back in February, Jelly Roll made a moving speech at the 2026 Grammy Awards as he accepted the prize for Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken – crediting his wife with saving his life.

He said: “I would have never change my life without you. I’d have ended up dead or in jail. I’d have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus.”

Jelly Roll has also changed his life over the last few years by embarking on a weight loss journey and he recently confessed he has “lost [his] way” but vowed to get back on track.

The 41-year-old singer – who weighed over 500lbs in 2023 but had slimmed down to 265lbs on the day he shot a Men’s Health magazine cover last November – admitted he has been “avoiding the scale” over the last few months after deciding to “enjoy the holidays” and indulge in “big meals”, as well as being less active due to an injury, so was scared to have a new weigh in ahead of returning to his diet.

Speaking in a YouTube video, Jelly said: “We hit the goal and it was right before the holidays, so I was like, ‘You know what man, I’ve been working hard for the last three years losing this weight, I’m going to enjoy the holidays.’

“I had a big Thanksgiving meal, I had a big birthday meal, I ate a big Christmas meal. Kinda got off the rails and I broke my collarbone … a few days before Christmas.

“I have, to some degree, lost my way. I am scared too, y’all. I feel really fat. I feel really bloated. I feel like this scale is going to let me down. I feel like I’m going to find out I’ve gained like 15lbs.”

He then turned the camera to his feet to show a digital scale reading of 276.2lbs. He said: “That’s our reality right there. So, we’re up 12 lbs.”

But now, the Son of a Sinner hitmaker has set his sights on running the New York Marathon and hopes to shed another 40-50lbs before the race on 1 November.

He said: “I’ve never ran a marathon or thought about running a marathon. This new coach I got has me doing intervals, right?

“So, run five minutes, walk five minutes, run five minutes, walk five minutes, and I’ll do it for an amount of time instead of an amount of miles. That’s been a really cool change of pace for me.

“Today was a walk 45 minutes day. I put on a weighted vest, which doesn’t fit me. It’s 2X. I’m not a 2X yet…Dude, that weighted vest was only 11 and 12 lbs and it kicked my a**.”
